“Now That’s a Chocolate-Covered Strawberry” Treat Package

I love the IDEA of chocolate covered strawberries but eating them takes all of the fun out of the idea. The chocolate is hard and it falls off of the strawberry at the first bite. Then they are just a messy mess of trying to gather chocolate bits to add to each bite of strawberry. At that point, the simple indulgence of the treat has “left the building”…I no longer enjoy eating it. (Ok, maybe that is a little exagerated…)

(Yes, I know there are worse things in life. But this ranks up there).

I just felt that there had to be a better way.

And I found it.

Chocolate Hazelnut Spread.

It is as simple as that.

And these are so incredibly easy to make which makes them even more divine.

You will need fresh strawberries, a jar of chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella) and toppings, like coconut, sprinkles or mini-chocolate chips.

Cut the greens off of fresh strawberries. Rinse and pat dry.

Spoon some Chocolate Hazelnut Spread into a microwave bowl and heat for 10 seconds, just enough to soften it a little.

Stir. If not soft enough for dipping, heat a little more and stir.

I sprinkled coconut onto a plate so that I could rest the dipped strawberries on that and they would not stick. You could use any topping that sounds yummy – crushed nuts, crushed chocolate, graham cracker crumbs or sprinkles. You could mix them or make a few different plates to create a variety of strawberries.

Once the chocolate hazelnut spread is softened, dip the strawberries in and twirl them to coat all around the strawberry…(“All around the strawberry bush, the momma dips the berry, the berry thought it was all in fun, then ‘pop’ she ate the berry”…sorry, I couldn’t help myself!)

Place the coated strawberry on the bed of coconut or topping of your choice. Cover all of the chocolate with the toppings or just the bottom of the strawberry.

Continue dipping your strawberries until you are finished.

Divine!

Don’t eat any, these are to give away remember?

Oh, who am I kidding…go ahead, you just have to try one!

Refrigerate the berries.

It’s ok, go ahead, they will not harden – that is the beauty of this recipe, if you can even call it that.

When you are ready to serve these beautiful little gifts, you can add cake pop sticks, pretzel sticks or toothpicks to each one to make it easier for guests to pick up.

If you are delivering these as a gift, place them in a box lined with parchment paper or put each one in a cupcake liner.

Ok. I am not sure if you can handle what is about to happen next. I should stop right now and let you go on with your day.

But I can’t.

I had a vision.

I have done some crazy things in my life. Heck, I had my FIRST child at 37 and I have three of them now. It does not get much crazier than that.

Except for this…

IMGP8443

Yaaaaaaaaaaaa…marshmallow fluff.

Oh boy.

IMGP8445

This just came to me in a vision. I love it when I have visions.

IMGP8480

I won’t even bother explaining myself, just come along for the visual ride, the “eye candy”, if you will…

You are limited only by your imagination…

Ok, I’m done.

I am feeling a bit hungry now.
