Homemade Barbeque Sauce

I inadvertently made a fabulously delicious Barbeque Sauce this week while I was trying to recreate a Molasses Ketchup that I had about 20 years ago with Sweet Potato Fries when they had just hit the food scene as a big deal. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long. I need to keep working on the Molasses Ketchup because it was not the taste I am thinking of, but I knew that I had to share this with you when my husband told me that he didn’t care what I called it, it was awesome.

It is.

And I will call it Homemade Barbeque Sauce.

Homemade BBQ Sauce

(You can see that we have devoured most of this little jar already…)

I can just taste it on grilled chicken with crispy skin (that’s the best part of course, especially when the BBQ Sauce gets dark and caramelized…mmmm). Or a juicy hamburger on a charcoal grill. The cheese and the BBQ Sauce and the grilled onions getting all friendly together. It’s a happy thought.

Oooo…what about with your Pulled Pork? Click on that link if you missed my previous post.

Homemade Barbeque Sauce would also make a wonderful gift to bring as a treat to your gatherings. Spoon some BBQ Sauce into small mason jars, and even add a silicone basting brush. What a great way to start the picnic season gatherings!

As far as the Molasses Ketchup goes, I may have complicated things by over-thinking. Maybe it was no more than molasses and ketchup. I will let you know because there is nothing better than that with sweet potato fries.
